The monocoque of the eax03 is even lighter than in previous years. Thanks to a new front end, the weight can be further reduced without sacrificing torsional rigidity. The resulting adjustments to the cover components allow a lower nose with better aerodynamic performance.
Another focus was on the structural design of the front wing. Optimised connection concepts made it possible to save further weight while improving rigidity.

Our aerodynamics package is characterised by numerous innovations. The highlight is the newly developed front wing, which optimises the efficiency of the undertray and rear wing. We trialled several concepts during the development phase. The double main flap is the most innovative development. This allows the air intake into the undertray to be enlarged and also perfects tyre wake management by directing the airflow away from the car. The lateral airflow to the undertray is improved by the new footplate, which also optimises the air mass flow into the cooling system. The new Dive Wings complement our existing rear wing concept.

In addition to a further reduction in weight, this year's further developments in the drivetrain focus on increasing efficiency and optimising rigidity in order to further optimise the driving dynamics of the eax03. A new and lighter generation of aluminium uprights forms, the heart of the assembly, while geometrically optimised carbon rims improve the running conditions for the performance of our tyres. Thanks to customised sealing technology and new flow analyses of the transmission oil flow, which represent a unique selling point in Formula Student, we were able to further increase the efficiency of our drivetrain.

The vehicle is powered by a 600 V traction battery with a capacity of 6.8 kWh. The new generation of wheel hub e-motors has 80 kW of power at its disposal, whereby a single motor can convert up to 35 kW. The biggest innovation in the drivetrain is the newly developed battery management system, which provides internal passive cell balancing compared to the previous year, which further increases the performance of the battery. To control the vehicle, over 20 sensors are connected to the decentralised CAN system via the minimised wiring harness, with two cameras and a LiDAR sensor being used in particular for autonomous driving. At the heart of the electrical system is a standardised ECU developed in-house used as a vehicle control unit and controller in the power distribution unit, among other things. The development work for the eax03 focussed on the seamless integration of high-performance and reliable components of the E/E system and electric drivetrain.

The continuous further development of the autonomous software aims to reflect the skills of our drivers and to beat them regarding time in the acceleration and skidpad disciplines. In the eax03 season, many improvements were made in terms of stability and the testing and simulation process was revised. With a further improved perception of the environment from a distance of up to 60 metres, we can recognise the track markings at an early stage and bring the vehicle closer to the physical limits with the help of improved state estimation concepts.

Direct feedback from the car to the driver is crucial for the ultimate performance of a racing car. With the new steering system of the eax03, we have not only succeeded in transferring the steering torques between the tyres and the driver more directly, but also in reducing the weight of the manual and autonomous steering by a total of 14%. Self-developed master brake cylinders, brake callipers and the optimised accelerator pedal round off the overall package and enable the driver to push the car to its dynamic limits.
